Williams Peak fire burning in national forest along Colorado 9

Federal and local firefighters are battling a wildfire off of Colorado 9 between Silverthorne and Kremmling.
The Williams Peak fire, northwest of Williams Peak, is burning through heavy, dead and downed lodgepole pine beetle kill, in the Sulphur Ranger District, according to the U.S. Forest Service, Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests.
The fire, at about noon Wednesday, was estimated to have burned about a quarter acre. The cause of the fire is unknown, and air and ground fire resources are working on the fire.
