The Larimer County Coroner’s Office identified 40-year-old Duane Roger Brown as the man killed in a fatal Fort Collins stabbing at the end of July.

The office ruled that Brown died by homicide from stab wounds; a news release added he was a South Dakota resident and enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Fort Collins police were called to 318 N. College Ave. at 10:09 p.m. July 21 on a report of a potential stabbing, according to previously released information. Officers found a man on the northeast side of College Avenue and Willow Street with multiple stab wounds.

The officers provided medical care until an ambulance arrived and medics rushed him to the hospital in critical condition, the release stated. A short time later, the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At 10:15 a.m. July 22, they arrested a 36-year-old man near Third Street and Buckingham Street in Fort Collins, and booked him into the Larimer County Jail on two felony charges — second-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to previously released information.
