Denver police responded Wednesday afternoon to the Cherry Creek Shopping Center on a report of shots fired, the report was unfounded, police said.
Police responded at about 2 p.m. to the busy center, 3000 E. 1st Ave., on a report of shots fired, said Jay Casillas, a police spokesperson.
“It looks like the incident was unfounded,” Casillas said. “It’s possible that it was the sound of balloons popping” inside the mall.
Multiple police vehicles and officers quickly responded to the report as part of an overall safety precaution.
