Police shooting investigation underway in Westminster

An investigation into a police shooting Tuesday in Westminster is underway.

The shooting happened in the area of West 88th Avenue and Lamar Drive, the Westminster Police Department said in a 5:28 p.m. tweet.
The intersection is bounded by a residential area to the south and businesses, including a drop-off recycling center, to the north.
West 88th is closed between Pierce Street and Lamar, police said, traffic can use West 92nd Avenue or West 80th Avenue as an option. There’s no current timeline for a reopening.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is leading the Critical Incident Response Team investigation, and the Arvada Police Department is assisting with the investigation.
