Pepperfry reported in a press release that its shoppers across India made diverse purchases during 2023. The business retails products by over 1,000 Indian and international brands and counts over 170 stores in more than 90 cities.

“We are excited to share significant insights gleaned from our customers over the past year,” said Pepperfry’s chief category officer Kushal Budhia in a press release. “Whether in a bustling metro city or a Tier 2 location, the Indian buyer is making a distinct mark. The diversity in their purchases is truly heartening, ranging from sofas to shoe racks, wall art to dhurries, and home fragrances. As we step into 2024, it will be fascinating to observe the trajectory of these trends.”

Shoppers in Maharashtra led the increase in demand for home goods and furniture last year and Bengaluru contributed the most in terms of Pepperfry’s revenue in 2023. In its home goods category, Pepperfry’s most bought products in 2023 were bedsheets, cushions and covers, bath linens, mattresses, and lamps.

“The Middle East is a very exciting market we are exploring,” Shah told Indian Retailer Bureau about expansion plans. “The consumers in the Middle East market are quite similar to those we are catering to. Additionally, it is a market that is very close to us in terms of shipping products and managing logistics.”
