Juan Ocegueda, 18, sentenced to 24 years in prison for stabbing

A teenager who stabbed a correctional officer in the Lakeside area, while in youth services’ custody and at a dental appointment, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison.

Juan Ocegueda, 18, was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County District Court for the May 31, 2022, stabbing, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

Ocegueda, at the time of the incident, was 17 and was in the custody of Platte Valley Youth Services in Greeley. Ocegueda was at a dental appointment, with a Division of Youth Services security specialist who was known to him, when the stabbing occurred.
