The Meerut Bullion Traders Association’s delegation was led by Laxmikant Bajpai and the GJEPC voiced its support for the idea, the GJEPC reported on its website. The GJEPC will undertake a feasibility study of the site proposed for the jewellery park by the middle of February.

“This will be an important project that aligns with the GJEPC’s vision to provide the necessary infrastructure to bolster the industry’s future growth ambitions,” said the GJEPC’s chairman Vipul Shah, the traders’ body reported on its website. “GJEPC will seek the cooperation of all stakeholders and the government to make it a success.”

The GJEPC and MBTA had previously discussed the idea at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The international event brings together entrepreneurs and official bodies from across the world to discuss the future of the economy.

The India Gold and Jewellery Summit took place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the GJEPC announced on Facebook. The industry event featured panel talks on subjects ranging from the rise in popularity of traditional style jewellery to how organised and independent retailers can coexist.
