French Connection opens new Chennai store in Phoenix Marketcity

Men’s and women’s western wear brand French Connection has opened its first exclusive brand outlet in Chennai. Located inside the city’s Phoenix Marketcity Mall, the store brings the UK-based brand’s classic style apparel to the city’s shoppers. 

“French Connection opened their store next to Nautica at the upper ground floor of Phoenix Marketcity Chennai,” wrote The Phoenix Mills’ assistant manager Sarath Kumar on Linkedin. 
 
The store houses French Connection’s selection of trend driven casual, semi-formal, and work wear. The brand has a millennial aesthetic and specialises in clothing that can take the wearer from the office to a bar and beyond. 

Myntra Jabong Private Limited acquired the master distribution rights for French Connection and its subsidiary FCUK in India in April 2023. The brand also named Bollywood celebrity Siddhant Chaturvedi as its brand ambassador for the Indian market in June last year and opened an exclusive brand outlet in Bengaluru in November, 2023. 
 
Following the licensing agreement, Myntra has re-launched the French Connection and FCUK brands in the Indian market with wholesale distribution managed through its network of third-party franchise partners and authorised distributors. Entrepreneur Stephen Marks first launched French Connection in the UK in 1972 then launched its casual wear focused subsidiary FCUK in 1997.
