A rockslide has shut down a stretch of eastbound Interstate 70 on the Western Slope.

Eastbound lanes are closed, after a Friday night rockslide, between Exit 49, Colorado Highway 65; and the Grand Mesa, U.S. Highway 6 exit, ten miles west of De Beque, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. Detours are in place.

The alternate route takes travelers off I-70 and onto Colorado Highway 65, then onto 45½ Road. Motorists should plan for an additional 45 minutes of travel with the detour, CDOT said in a news release.

Crews are working to reopen a lane on Saturday. Westbound I-70 is open.

The slide, which included mud and massive stones, happened between 9 and 10 p.m. Friday. No vehicles were damaged during the rockfall and no injuries were reported.
