One person died Thursday afternoon in an aircraft crash in Larimer County.
A glider crashed on private property south of the Soapstone Prairie Natural Area (SPNA) in the Rawhide Flats area, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and the Wellington Fire Protection District responded about 1:45 p.m. to the crash. The adult pilot of the glider, the only person in the aircraft, died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the pilot’s name, as well as cause and manner of death, at a later time.
