ONDC crosses 200 million transactions as growth accelerates
The Open Network for Digital Commerce has crossed the milestone of 200 million transactions on its online platform with the last 100 million transactions taking place over the past six months, the platform announced on Facebook on March 24.

“Crossing 200 million transactions is more than just a milestone- it shows a paradigm shift in the way buyers and sellers are looking at digital commerce today,” said ONDC’s CEO and managing director T Koshy, Indo Asian News Service reported. “This validates ONDC’s belief that an open network can drive large-scale transformation by giving equal opportunity to businesses of all sizes, breaking monopolies, and creating an ecosystem where innovation thrives.”
ONDC describes itself as a nationwide movement to democratise e-commerce in India and increase accessibility and discoverability for small businesses. ONDC reached its first 100 million transactions within 20 months of launching, from January 2023 to August 2024, ET Bureau reported. However, its next 100 million transactions taking place in the past half a year show that business on the platform is accelerating.
“This is just the beginning,” said Koshy. “There are many more use cases brewing within ONDC which will see the light of day soon.”
ONDC features categories including retail, logistics, financial services, and mobility. The platform is a public technology initiative developed by the government’s Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, according to its website.
