Founded by David and Kavi Moltz in 2009, Brooklyn-based D.S & Durga has garnered a cult following since its inception 15 years ago, thanks to its niche scents and the playful branding of its top-selling fragrances including Debaser, I Don’t Know What and Grapefruit Generation.

In light of the acquisition, the Moltz’s will stay on to creatively lead the brand through its next phase of growth. Meanwhile, Monogram Capital, which invested in the brand in 2018, will stay on as a minority stakeholder.

Funds raised will be used to expand D.S & Durga’s retail footprint, hiring new talent and for international expansion, according to multiple reports.

Manzanita, whose portfolio includes Diptyque, Space NK, Malin+Goetz and Susanne Kaufmann, is no stranger to the luxury fragrance market.

In 2022, it sold niche luxury fragrance brand Byredo to Spanish beauty giant Puig for a rumored $1 billion.
