Greeley police officer fires at suspect who pointed gun, ran off

A police officer in Greeley fired at a suspect who pointed a gun at them, authorities said Thursday. The suspect ran off and is at large.
The police shooting happened about 11 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of 6tha Street, according to a 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team news release. The officer was in the are checking a report of “suspicious activity” when an encounter took place.
“The suspect ran from the Greeley officer on foot and turned around and pointed a gun at the officer,” the release said. “The officer returned fire, and the suspect ran from the officer. A perimeter was established, and the suspect was not located.”
Authorities did not release a description of the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.
