The GJEPC collaborated with the Local Trade Association’s Swarno Shilpo Bachao Committee to gather together a group of Kolkata’s karigars along with key industry figures, the traders’ body announced on its website. The event was addressed virtually by the GJEPC’s executive director Sabyasachi Ray who detailed how he believes that the Common Facility Centre will benefit karigars and artisans.

Industry figures who attended the event included the GJEPC’s regional chairman for the eastern region Pankaj Parekh and GJEPC Eastern Regional Committee member Suvankar Sen among others. The industry event was mainly directed at artisans in Kolkata’s Bowbazar, a busy commercial area in the city known for its fine jewellery traders.

Over 70 individuals from Kolkata’s jewellery manufacturing industry attended the seminar, according to the GJEPC. The Common Facility Centre is an initiative by the GJEPC and the Swarna Shilpa Bachao Committee and is designed to enable smaller jewellery manufacturers to have access to modern technology to ameliorate their products and boost revenue.
