A low temperature of 49 degrees Monday morning, measured at Denver International Airport, tied the record for the coldest on this day of the year, according to the National Weather Service.
That record was set in 1976, National Weather Service officials announced in a posting on X, the social media site formerly called Twitter.
This is the first day since June that Denver’s temperature has dropped below 50 degrees, weather service meteorologists said.
NWS forecasters expected summer heat will return later in the week.
