For the first time since 2019, Chicago Cubs season ticket holders are receiving an invoice for potential playoff games.

The Cubs sent the postseason invoice to season ticket holders Wednesday, which includes all potential playoff games from the wild-card round through the World Series. The Cubs (61-58) still need to make up ground to secure a playoff spot, entering Wednesday 3 1/2 games out of first in the National League Central and one game back of the final wild-card position, but the organization wanted to provide the details as early as possible for season ticket holders.

“We know there’s a lot of work left to do, we’re not being presumptuous that we’ve already locked up a playoff spot,” said senior vice president of Marquee 360 Cale Vennum, who oversees Cubs ticketing. “But we’ve been hearing a lot from our season ticket holders that with this being their biggest benefit that they want to know what the process is going to be heading into October.”

For season ticket holders choosing to purchase postseason tickets, their payment is due Sept. 15. As part of the process, the Cubs also sent season ticket holders their 2024 invoice.

Cubs 2024 season tickets are increasing by an average of 3%, with upper-reserved outfield seeing the highest increase (4.8%) and club-box outfield the smallest (0.9%) while bleacher seats will see a 3.5% uptick.

For season ticket holders who decline the option to buy postseason tickets or want to receive a refund for unplayed postseason games instead of credit toward their 2024 season tickets, the first payment on next season’s tickets is due Oct. 19. Otherwise, season ticket holders will instead have until Jan. 17 for their 2024 season ticket payment.

“It’s just really exciting with the new postseason format in having more teams in contention, every game is going to matter the rest of the way,” Vennum said. “Our fans are just really excited and it’s been a lot of fun to be getting the calls from our season ticket holders asking for this information.”

For Cubs fans who are not season ticket holders but are interested in postseason tickets, Vennum estimated the team is roughly one month from having further information on single-game tickets.

The Cubs plan to offer later this week for people on their season ticket holder waiting list an option to place a deposit toward 2024 season tickets to be given access to purchase postseason tickets this year ahead of the single games on sale.

Although the Cubs made the postseason in 2020, no fans were allowed in Wrigley Field for the wild-card round because of the pandemic.
