Balenciaga unveils limited-edition soccer-inspired collection

Luxury fashion house Balenciaga launched on Tuesday a limited series of ready-to-wear items and accessories inspired by the world of soccer.
Available in select Balenciaga stores worldwide and online, the soccer-themed collection includes a variety of pieces, including wool scarves, brimmed caps, short- and long-sleeved jerseys, tracksuits, sweatpants, poplin jackets, zip-up hoodies, and socks.
Collection items are characterized by piping and logos reminiscent of on- and off-duty uniforms worn by soccer teams during gameplay and drills. Moreover, a selection of products feature the names of cities or neighborhoods instead of a player’s name.
In particular, Aoyama, Barcelona, Beverly Hills, Dubai, Ipanema, Mayfair, Miami, Milan, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, Soho, and Tokyo are among the locations highlighted. Lastly, some pieces showcase the number ten, a nod to Balenciaga’s historic address in Paris, 10 Avenue George V.
In recent years, we have seen a number of high fashion brands embrace the surging popularity of soccer. In May, Italian label Prada collaborated with Adidas on soccer cleats in three colourways. Inter Milan and Moncler have also gotten together on several occasions to create a capsule to celebrate the sport.
Most recently, Adidas and Stella McCartney teamed up to co-create an away kit and travel range for Arsenal Women’s Super League, while Paris Saint-Germain equally tapped Dior to craft the new official wardrobe for the football club’s team’s 2023-2024 season.
