India yesterday launched the National Single Window System (NSWS) for investors and companies for government approvals and clearances. Minister for commerce and industry, textiles, consumer affairs & public distribution Piyush Goyal said NSWS will usher in freedom from the legacy of running to different government offices for approvals and registrations.

The portal will improve ease of conducting business, offer respite from loads of paperwork, and reduce duplication and information asymmetry, the minister was quoted as saying in an official release.

The portal currently hosts approvals across 18 central government departments and nine states. Another 14 central departments and five states will be added by December this year.
