
Fatal crash closes portion of East Dry Creek Road in Centennial
A fatal crash forced authorities to close all but one lane of East Dry Creek Road in Centennial Sunday afternoon, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. on East Dry Creek Road between South Yosemite Street and South Alton Way. A driver lost control of a vehicle and hit a parking garage, according to the sheriff’s office. The vehicle then burst into flames.
The driver died, and a passenger who was in the vehicle was taken to a hospital. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Ginger Delgado did not know the survivor’s condition Sunday. She also could not say whether investigators suspect the driver was intoxicated or speeding before the crash.
Authorities closed all eastbound lanes of East Dry Creek Road and all but one lane of the westbound road between South Yosemite Street and South Alton Way. The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
