In a few weeks, the Monterey 2022 auctions will officially begin. So far, we’ve already detailed some of the awesome automotive examples up for grabs. Nevertheless, as the proverb says, “good things come to those who wait.” So, for those of you who can hold back their bids this month, a 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante is the prize.

With only 17 examples supposedly built at the time, serious car collectors would be crazy to pass up a chance to own one. From every angle, this silhouette oozes pure art deco goodness. Hosting its sale is RM Sotheby’s. They are offering it as one of the lots for their St. Moritz event on September 9.

Insiders reveal the vehicle will share the stage with other equally desirable classics. There’s a black 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL and a silver 1965 Aston Martin DB Vantage that are in need of a new owner. However, the star of the show will still be the 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante.

Its design was penned by Jean Bugatti, the marque’s namesake’s son. In addition to its dramatic curves, this machine is packing a powertrain ahead of its time.

A 3.3-liter inline-eight capable of 160 horsepower endows the 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante with a top speed of 120 mph. A two-tone paint scheme adorns the exterior of this vintage ride.

Gloss black covers most of the surfaces, while a red French curve lines the side of the 1936 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante. Chrome accents add a hint of silver to the mix. Meanwhile, the cabin of the coupe shows wood elements on the dashboard and steering wheel. RM Sotheby’s is yet to share more information about this stunner.
