Frasers Group had big news on Monday with the company expanding its partnership with MAP Active, a subsidiary of PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk, to launch its key Sports Direct stores across new markets in southeast Asia and India.

The deal with the major regional sports and fashion business will build on the existing partnership for Indonesia and will see Sports Direct entering five new markets, “unlocking ambitious growth plans to open over 350 stores in the region long term”.
It plans to “expand further into Indonesia, as well as enter India, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia”.
Frasers will use MAP Active’s “infrastructure, local expertise and distributed brands to position Sports Direct as the premier sports retailer in the region”.
The company added that “with support from Frasers Group’s major brand partners, this expansion will set a new benchmark for the sports retail sector in these markets”.
Michael Murray, Frasers Group CEO, said expanding its “successful partnership” with MAP Active will see it moving into “dynamic new markets where we see potential for long-term growth”.
And VP Sharma, Group CEO of PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk said that the two companies’ “shared vision for excellence in sports retail will enable us to create immersive brand experiences, drive engagement, and set new standards for the industry in this vibrant region”.
