Sometimes life can make even the most positive of us feel deep down in the dumps. Followed by the blazing hot and cold, sunny and rainy days, the seasons can hit our energy levels, leaving us tired and dull. Have you ever thought of trying something new and healthy to give your health a quick energy boost? Though multiple ingredients are trending, still, somewhere, high-quality matcha powder is reigning.

What is matcha powder?

Matcha is a powdered green tea cultivated and derived from Camellia sinensis leaves. Matcha tea is carefully shade-grown and doesn’t have veins or stems like ordinary green tea. Matcha has an incredible green hue with high chlorophyll levels, which awakens and relaxes your sense. Isn’t that amazing? Try it for sure; you will love the sweet, grassy, vegetal note, with a gentle bitter undertone and a hint of nuttiness. We have to mention that it is the next-level green tea!

After all the basics, we will share how to prepare the delicious matcha green tea without a whisk. Whether you were gifted a tin of matcha green tea blend or you are yourself trying matcha for the first time, the preparation methods are endless. Many of you might be unsure of what to do with matcha powder, don’t worry; we are here to help. This post will be highly informative for you, especially if you don’t drink or consume matcha regularly. Although learning about this process may seem quite complicated, our post will still help clear all the doubts and concerns about matcha.

Let’s get started with how matcha can be traditionally prepared and enjoyed.

If you look for videos, tutorials, or photos online, matcha tea will likely be seen with a bamboo whisk. As expected, matcha is usually made with a typical bamboo whisk, also called a chasen. There is another alternative method to learn about before buying matcha powder and bringing it to your kitchen table. So rather than leaving your matcha untouched, make the most of it with this quick method.

You can always use an automatic milk frother. The chances are that you might have it in your kitchen already. All-time tea enthusiasts can also use the bamboo whisk to foam up their cup of matcha. Here’s the recipe:

  • Fill half of your mug/cup/bowl with any plant-based oat milk, soy milk, or your choice of milk.
  • Add a teaspoon of matcha powder or depending on your personal preference. Usually, tea connoisseurs, foodies, and A-listers recommend adding a half or one teaspoon to a cup.
  • Use a milk frother to mix it well with hot water.
  • Until you see the foam coming up, keep blending it. Once you see that foam on the surface, pour the matcha tea into your prepared cup; now, you are all set to enjoy a delightful cup of matcha.

A quick tip: Matcha can be enjoyed in a ceramic bowl/cup at its best. Also, sweeteners like honey or maple syrup can be added to enjoy.

Using these two tools or even the milk frother individually saves time when we prepare matcha if you don’t already have a bamboo whisk. However, it is highly recommended that you prepare matcha with a bamboo whisk to achieve a smooth foam layer. Do you have any recommendations on what to use to prepare matcha?
