The names of his parents are Maria Moreno and Arturo Moreno, who immigrated to the states from Mexico. The father of Arturo ran a small print shop, and his grandfather owned Tucson’s first ever Spanish Languages Newspaper.
In 1965, he graduated from high-school, and in 1966 he was drafted into the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. After returning to civilian life in 1968, he enrolled himself at the University of Arizona where he graduated in 1973 with a degree in marketing.

Arturo Moreno Buying The Los Angeles Angels
The favorite pastime of Arturo Moreno was baseball, which is why he purchased the Salt Lake Trappers, a minor league team, alongside 17 other investors in 1986. The group owne the team until 1992 and the venture proved to be a resounding financial success.
Moreno wished to own a Major League Baseball team by the year 2001.
Initially, he wanted to buy the Arizona DIamondbacks, which is his home team, however no deal was reached but he was determined to own a Major League team, and set his sight on the 2002 World Series Champions Anaheim Angels.
In April of 2003, it was announced that Moreno had agreed with The Walt Disney Company to purchase the team for $180 million. On May 15, 2003, MLB commissioner Bud Selig announced that the sale of the Angels to Moreno was approved.
